| Route Summary | Scenic and rural route. Walnut Grove UMC (last stop on Map #1) will graciously open the church for walkers to use restrooms. This is also a pick up location for transport to next section of the route. The last 1/2 mile of the route will begin at the historic Burwell School for Girls, where Carrie Currie (from Person County) is also the historian here. She will greet us with water, snacks, and restrooms. There are 2 maps for today’s walk. Van transport in the middle of the route. Meet at Walnut Grove UMC by 2:15 pm for pick-up. |

| Restrooms | Not many stops, and some are far apart. 4 stops all listed on Daily Map #1. Walnut Grove UMC will be open for walkers between 1:00 and 2:15. And Burwell School (Map #2) will be open for us. |
| Special Event | The Triangle Alumnae Club (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) will host a Happy Hour for walkers at The Colonial Inn at 5:00. Very casual – come as you are! Order your drink from the downstairs bar, then carry your drink to the upstairs porch for a casual social with a few alumnae from the Triangle area. |

| Instructions for Driver | AFTERNOON: Pick up walkers at Walnut Grove UMC and drive 9.2 miles Burwell School. From that point, walkers will walk last 1/2 mile to Colonial Inn. |

| Miscellaneous Information | Navigation: Each Google Map route will have a starting point and multiple stops. iPhone users: when you arrive at a stop, you must remove the PREVIOUS starting point, making your current stop the NEW starting point. Android users: As long as you “arrive” at each stop, it will automatically advance to the next one. Otherwise, you will have to remove a stop. EXCEPTION: Do NOT remove any stops when you are in a dead zone! This will cancel the map and you will not be able to relaunch it. Dead zone: in poor or no cell phone coverage, you will still be able to see the route since GPS continues to work. Just don’t exit the map or try to remove a stop or you will lose the route. Safety: Obey all traffic laws. Use crosswalks and sidewalks wherever possible. When sidewalks are not available, generally it is recommended to walk against traffic but there may be times where the shoulder is wider walking WITH traffic.
